Which one is right for your skin?
One of the most common skin care questions we hear at the farmers market is, "What is the difference between the Body Serum and the Whipped Tallow Cream?"
While both are handcrafted in small batches using thoughtfully selected botanical ingredients, they each offer a different experience and were created to care for skin in their own unique way.
What do they have in common?
Before we talk about what makes each product unique, it's worth mentioning what qualities they share.
Both the Body Serum and Whipped Tallow Cream are:
Handcrafted in small batches
Made with thoughtfully selected botanical ingredients
Designed to support healthy, glowing skin
Created to become part of a simple, everyday skincare routine
The biggest difference is how they feel on your skin and when you might reach for them.
Choose the Body Serum if...
You love skincare that feels light, silky, and absorbs quickly.
The Body Serum is made by slowly infusing chamomile, calendula, rose petals, marshmallow root and lavender into cold-pressed grapeseed oil for four weeks. The result is a lightweight botanical oil that leaves skin feeling incredibly soft with a healthy, natural glow.
Many customers especially enjoy it during the warmer months when they want lasting moisture without a heavier feel.
It's wonderful:
Right after a bath or shower
On slightly damp skin
As an everyday body moisturizer
After shaving
On arms, legs, neck, chest and even the face
One of our favorite tips? Apply just a few pumps while your skin is still slightly damp after bathing. The serum spreads beautifully, so a little truly goes a long way.
Choose the Whipped Tallow Cream if...
Your skin is asking for a little extra nourishment.
The Whipped Tallow Cream has a richer texture and creates more of a protective layer on the skin. If your hands feel dry after gardening, your face needs overnight moisture or winter weather has your skin feeling depleted, this is often the product customers reach for.
It's especially wonderful for:
Dry or mature skin
Facial moisture
Areas that need longer-lasting nourishment
Even though it's richer, you'll likely use less than you think. A small amount warmed between your fingertips spreads surprisingly far.
The story behind the Body Serum
The Body Serum actually began under a different name.
Years ago, I created a gentle after-bath oil for my own children called First Touch. I wanted something simple and nourishing that I felt good about using on their skin.
I found myself reaching for it too.
After shaving my legs.
On my neck and chest.
Eventually on my face.
As friends and customers began using it in the same way, it became clear this little after-bath oil had grown into something much more versatile. That's when First Touch naturally evolved into the Body Serum we sell today.
Can I use both?
Absolutely. The Body Serum and Whipped Tallow Cream complement one another.
You might reach for the Body Serum after your morning shower when you want lightweight hydration and a healthy glow.
Later that evening, you might massage a small amount of Whipped Tallow Cream into your face or extra-dry areas before bed.
Each has its place depending on the season, your routine and what your skin is asking for that day.
